Perhaps the most fun for the little ones is the Pantomime Theater. Staged in a Chinese-style building, with the audience standing in the open air, pantomime has been performing here continuously since 1874. The pantomime tradition comes down as an Italian specialty, called Commedia dell’Arte, and its most famous characters—Cassander, Columbine, Harlequine, and the stupid servant Pierrot—are wonderful entertainment.

Food and Drinks in Tivoli Gardens

Restaurants and cafés abound in Tivoli, and the choices are as varied as the international flavors of visitors. Snack and drinks carts are just as plentiful. Hey, it’s an amusement park, after all. Prices vary (as does quality) depending on what you’re looking for in a dining experience.

Outside Tivoli Gardens
There are a number of interesting museums in Copenhagen, celebrating Danish arts & design, maritime history, and science & nature. Across the street from Tivoli’s south gate is the Glyptotek, a French & Danish collection of ancient art. Just northeast, on Stormgade, is the National Museum.

Tivoli is centrally located in Copenhagen, which means many of its tourist hotels, hostels and catered apartment rentals surround the park. Likewise, restaurants, nightclubs, and Copenhagen’s famous cellar pubs begin just a block northeast of Tivoli.
